Privacy Policy

Effective 28 October 2026

In short: Dimly does not collect, store, share or sell any personal data. Everything it does happens in Safari on your Mac.

Who we are

Dimly is published by Elena Trifonova, an individual developer, through the Mac App Store.

What the extension accesses

To put a website in dark mode, the extension reads the styles and colors of the page you are viewing and adds its own styles on top. It does this only on sites where you have allowed it in Safari, and only inside Safari on your Mac. It does not read what you type, and it does not record which sites you visit.

Network requests

Dimly makes no requests to the developer or to any third party. It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code.

Safari doesn't let an extension read a stylesheet or image that a page loads from another address. To recolor those, the extension downloads the same file again, from the same address the page uses, without your cookies. Nothing is sent anywhere else.

Reporting a site

Report this site in the popup opens a draft email in your mail app, addressed to support. It contains the page's address (without anything after a ? or #), your dark mode setting, and the extension and Safari versions. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself.

What is stored

The extension keeps these in Safari's extension storage on your Mac:

None of this leaves your device unless you export your settings yourself.

Purchases

Dimly is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles payment, and the developer does not receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple's own privacy policy applies to the purchase.

Children

Dimly collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
